The
purpose of Helping Hands is to help the less fortunate meet their needs. We
focus on the most important sector of the disadvantaged in our six county metro
area - THE FAMILY. We try to pay special attention where the elderly and
children are involved. Rather than focus on transients, we aim to supply aid to
members of the community who are down on their luck; or temporarily out of work;
the physically challenged; and the working poor.
We
provide private, family-sized apartments, food, and clothing for a period of
three to six months. We provide child care, limited counseling, and medical help
for our alcohol and drug-free guests. We provide job training and job placement
assistance. In the future, we also hope to be able to provide families and
individuals with a "temporary" permanent address.
Helping
Hands provides a caring and realistic environment, that allows our guests the
time to get organized and restructured. We find that these individuals want to
be independent, functioning members of society. Only together, can we help them
to achieve their goals.
