Englewood Youth Sports Association |
The Englewood Youth Sports Association (EYSA)
is a tax-exemp, nonprofit all volunteer organization dedicated to providing
competitive sports programs to Englewood's youth.
EYSA began as the Englewood Youth Football
Association in the summer of 1995. The Englewood Recreation Center had dropped
the tackle football program earlier in the year. The Englewood High School
football coaching staff discussed the possibility of restarting the program
separately from the recreation center. After drawing interest from several
parents, a game plan was put together for the new program. The inaugural season
included four teams made up of players from Englewood middle schools. Soon after
the first season, the program expanded into the elementary schools.
In 1997, we introduced competitive basketball
and softball programs to the city of Englewood. At this point, it was necessary
to change the name of the organization to EYSA. In 2000, we expanded to
include a competitive baseball program.
Overall, EYSA has given the opportunity to many
boys and girls to participate in these programs at a low cost compared to other
surrounding leagues. We continue to expand into different sports to offer to the
youth of Englewood.
